Dark Chocolate and Almond Cupcakes

Published by JuleenW under Food and Sweets

This weekend is Dark Chocolate and Almond Cupcakes for my baking. As usual after work I had to rush home to get into action. It took me 5 hrs to make about 40 of them.

First I had to toast the almonds and put them aside. Then I mix the cupcake mixture and bake them. And lastly to put the dark chocolate frosting followed by sprinkling some almond flakes on top. Voila!

The lovely Dark Chocolate and Almond Cupcakes.

This weekend I present to you the sweet and subtle

White Chocolate and Walnut Cupcakes

Do You Know

Do you know that white chocolate is technically not a chocolate? White chocolate consists of cocoa butter, milk and sugar. It does not contain cocoa solids. That’s why it cannot be officially called chocolate.

Hari Raya Eve @ Nak Won, Ampang…

It was Hari Raya Eve, and we havent gotten any interesting plan… so the best thing is to go and eat. Our friend Jolene recommended us to a a Korean restaurant at Ampang. She said she love korean dramas, guys and food. Ok, so we follow her suggestion.

Arriving at Nak Won Korean BBQ Restaurant

Taking a snap of Us… hehe

Our friends Jolene and Jenli

Look at the array of side dishes they offered… appertizing!

….

Now the main dishes

Marinated pork slices

BBQ Beef Spare Ribs (such small serving and it cost RM 56…)

Bim Bim Bap ( rice with different types of vegetables and an egg mixed together)

And last but not least, a rice wine to compliment our our meal…

Bek Se Ju ( a sweet rice wine, the name means 100 years wine, so if you drink it you might live up to 100 years…)

Overall, we had a great meal and alot of fun. The food was alright and alil on the pricy side. I personally tried better Korean restaurants at New York and Montreal and so far havent tried any korean food here that can beat the taste yet. Perhaps there are better Korean restaurants around KL, or Sri Hartamas, or even Mont Kiara. At the end of the dinner, we were served with a cold barley drink, a refreshing drink to end your dinner since the BBQ is quite heaty in a way.

………

RuehYinn writes:- Authentic Korean food but a lil pricey. I enjoyed myself on that night and I was surprised to see such a well developed Korean community here outside of Mont. Kiara. You can basically find a lot of authentic Korean restaurant and grocery shops. They even have Korean church too at the middle of the “town”…impressive!! So if you want to look for Korean food, groceries, girlfriend or boyfriend…just go to Ampang Jaya … hehehe…

Jolene anymore place to introduce??

Michaelangelo’s @ Soho KL, Solaris Mont Kiara

Published by ruehyinn under Food and Sweets

On Monday night, Juleen and I thought of going for a date and we decided on Soho KL at Solaris Mont. Kiara. It will be our first trip to Soho KL. None of us have idea how to go there. But after a few spin here and there, we finally arrived. Since we have been to Soho at New York, we do expect to get something similar, at least to some extent. But to our dismay, a lot of shops are still vacant. Probably the area is still new but this area definitely has great potential…

Since there are not many places to go to, we decided to have dessert at Michaelangelo’s. From the outside, it does look like a posh Italian restaurant…

The interior design is very classy and the warm lighting makes the restaurant a good choice for couple who are looking quiet atmosphere. Their service is good too. The waiter and waitress are very friendly and responsive…

Despite looking posh from the outside, I’m in the opinion that the restaurant is a mid - range Italian restaurant catering for people with above average income. So, you don’t need to have deep pocket to eat at Michaelangelo’s. Once in a while, won’t kill you… hehehe!

Sweet Juleen at the restaurant…

Here are some of the food we ordered..

Tiramisu (RM15.90) - Sponge finger biscuits dipped in espresso liqueur, then layered between rich mascarpone cream, topped with cocoa powder…

Bruschetta Al Pomodoro (RM11.90) - Roasted Italian loaf topped with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil and seasoned olive oil…

And do you know who we met at Michaelangelo’s? Our own Malaysian top model and actor, Steve Yap. When Steve walked out, I realized he is tall and and very well - built. Hmm… maybe I should go to gym :-). Who knows I will become Malaysia next male top model…haha!

Most importantly, Juleen is happy and satisfied at the end of the day… thus I am too!
