Main – main Badminton …

7 Mar

Yesterday, we have a badminton session for our 1st Cell Group’s outing. Oh, did I mentioned I was transferred to a new a cell group along with Juleen and Jolene? Now, we will be the permanent member for S8 instead of S3. This will my official announcement to the WORLD after many weeks of dealing with denial that I am no longer with S3…haha! Anyway, we have already been with S8 for the past one month and frankly speaking I’ve learnt a great deal under the leadership of Sarah Ho, a young enthusiastic leader, entrepreneur and also a wife. So yeah, I am starting to love this cell group…the members are fun too :-)

Going back to the badminton session yesterday… instead of “kicking ass” yesterday, my ass was kicked… haha… too many great contenders. If you are to look at the collage below you will see people with different gaya (english: styles). Sarah showed her ultra – man power, LeeNa used basketball style, and this ever funny Albert with his “Karate Kid” style…

The session will not be completed with the DRINKING session..hahaha! It is time to introduce my new cell group member…

From the left:- Steven, Sarah Ho (our cell leader), Hong Keat…

and..

From the left:- Steven, LeeNa, Prajiv…

I think we still prefer to take picture rather than playing badminton … hahaha… playing badminton take too much effort!

Overall, it was a fun session. I didn’t realized I wasn’t fit at all until yesterday night. After a round of game, I found myself gasping for air until I have to walk out for more air. I think I need to come with a plan to go exercise. Where were those stamina when I could run 3km without stopping 10 years ago? It is the sign of aging?? Haha… probably…

Have a nice weekend…

4 Days After My 28th Birthday…

28 Sep

Four (4) days had past since my 28th birthday and I have not written anything since then. Therefore, I wanna take this opportunity to thank everyone for your birthday wishes and gifts. I still receive birthday wishes up to today. Thank you, thank you guys…

Some of the presents I received this year…

..

I am contemplating whether I should thank everyone personally… maybe I should but I can’t possibly name everyone. I wanna thank :-

  1. Shiu Lin for the treat at Thai Express @ Pavilion;
  2. TC for the ‘How I Became a Quant’ book (TC always give me book and I love every book that he bought)
  3. South Zone leaders for Photoshop CS3 Book (been longing for this book);
  4. My Dearest Juleen for the three presents… shirt, cufflinks, key chain, and also contributed some to the Photoshop CS3 Book (very thoughtful presents);
  5. All the birthday wishes at Facebook, Friendster, MSN, SMS

..

BUT not all birthday present come easy without paying a hefty price. Believe it or not, I have to sacrifice my dignity this Friday to earn my birthday presents from the cell group… sob sob! What happened is, I have to dress like a fagot and pose for them. Luckily, I have Daniel to go through it together with me…

.

Good looking RuehYinn before the makeover… (who cares about self praise is no praise… hehe)

See what happened to good looking RuehYinn and Daniel after the makeover…

Not only that, they forced us to take obscene and digusting pictures. I may look happy and excited with my new makeover in the picture but NO NO, I AM NOT!…. I was forced to have put on lipsticks, fake breast and etc… sob sob!

See what they did to Daniel … (what the peace sign for Daniel???)

The whole thing was so disgusting, until beautiful and sweet Jenli…

turned into this (disgusted face)…

While others having a lot of fun looking and laughing at what they have done to us. Yeah, sure they are funny until your birthday next… hehehe… then I will be also laughing my a** off…

How can you eat the cake, dear? You should come and save me from all the bullies…are you one of them too? Hehe…

.

Whatever it is, thank you guys. Because of you guys, I had a beautiful 28th birthday. Thanks again!! Hopefully I have many more blessings to come in the new year…

I Know What You Did Last Weekend…

7 Sep

Like everyone else, I always look forward for weekend. Weekend means a lot for me. It’s the time for me to refresh and also to recuperate. Before I end my weekend (only 1 hour) away, I thought I would just recall what I did this weekend…

….

What did I do this weekend?

1. Attended Cell Group on Friday. Now, I know prayer is as easy as ABC!

….

2. Celebrated Jarance and Jen Li’s birthday on Friday. See what all these people did to Jarance (our CG leader)? They put clips all over Jarance’s face and attempt to pull them off one shot. The plan, however, was canceled because the pain is simply unbearable!!

Jarance… I have to tell you I am not part of the cospiracy. I was only assigned as a photographer. So don’t hate me… hehe!

Next, was the waxing legs part. Again, they pulled the tape altogether. I pity Jarance, but if they (CG members) don’t take advantage of Jarance now, then they will never have the chance to take revenge on him for all his scolding in the past..hahaha! Jarance, we know all your scoldings are good but still… (hehe)

and Jen Li happily enjoying her birthday cake… (looks adorable, like a rabbit :-) )

This month alone (though only 1 week has passed), we have celebrated 4 friends’ birthday. Happy Birthday to Sophie, Jason, Jarance and Jen Li !! In fact, many more birthday to celebrate this month including mine!

This trigger my mind to think why are there so many September babies?

My ‘intelligent’ mind came out with this theory… Since pregnancy period is 9 month, so the parents will have to “make baby” or “make love” in the month of December. Therefore, the key for the question lie on the month of December. Normally, there are a lot of holidays on the month December and when you have ample of time and no work stress, the next thing you do is to “make a lot of love” with your spouse. Correct? Hahaha… What do you think? Do you think my theory works?

.

3. Send my car for repair on Saturday morning.

So happen Jolene’s car broke down during cell group. I recommended her to this workshop in Taman Megah, whose service and pricing are pretty reasonable. We met up on Saturday morning and spent half of our Saturday waiting for our car to be done. She spent RM200 to replace the whole radiator and I spend RM98 to replace the door handle.. sigh!

.

4. Attended Sunday church service and fellowshipping. As usual, Juleen and I spend our morning in church and fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We managed to watch the movie “Money Not Enough 2″ by Jack Neo. The movie is not too bad, however, you got to understand Hokkien, else you will have to read the subtitle throughout the movie.

Overall, I have a good gathering in the afternoon. And I noticed something. I noticed Jarance wasn’t “traumatized” by the Friday’s experience and I have the evidence (look below). So I guess for his next year birthday, we can up the level a bit :-) . Still can laugh “la” Jarance…laugh more!! Hahaha…

..

5. Went jogging with Juleen and BoBo. Did I mentioned I have to sweep and mop the house on every Sunday? I am fortunate to have Juleen helping me out every weekend. Since we finished our work early and still have time before dinner (she will come over to have dinner with my family every Sunday and I ‘ll do the same every Saturday), Juleen suggested we went for a jog. I agreed! Somehow nowadays, I hate staying home doing nothing… Jogging is good!

but

before we start jogging, we have to get the energy from the ice cream first… haha!

..

Juleen and BoBo…

..

First picture session…

..

Second picture session… (now I wonder we were jogging or photo taking?)

..

One thing I like about Kota Kemuning is that we have all the infrastructure and facilities. One of it is the public park where all the family members can spend their weekend together feeding the fish and picnicking…

We left before the sun set! Beautiful view at Kota Kemuning’s lake…

I have beautiful weekend this week and I am ready to go back to work! Need to work extra hard, so that this year I can get a reasonable pay rise… seriously need it :-) . Nine month has passed, three more month left for this year. I wonder how much I have fulfilled my 2008 New Year Resolution…

Blessing in Disguise…

1 Sep

My car broke down a week ago (August 23) after my cell group at church. The first thing I thought of everytime my car broke down is $$$$ (money). The second thing I will do is to pray so hard that the repair bill won’t kill me. Coincidently, on that day I was preaching about “Stepping Out” in the cell group, i.e; have faith in God and step out. At that moment, I knew God was challenging me to practice what I’ve just preached.

Many people came to offer their advice and help. After all of them fail, I decided to do it on my own…

After all the effort, I gave up and picked up the phone to call AAM MAA Assurance. Everyone was very skeptical the kind of service I will receive. However, within 35 minutes MAA Assurance sent their technician over. The technician was so helpful and my problem was fixed in just few minutes. Apparently, my battery was too weak. Even jump starting it won’t revive the battery…

At the end I only spent RM280 for a new 12 cell battery. To cut the story short, I have learn a few things which I consider as precious during my car breakdown experience…

1. On technical side of car

Whenever your car’s battery goes flat when it is relatively new, consider to diagnose the car’s alternator. In layman term, alternator is the charger for your car’s battery. When you car is on the move, alternator will produce Alternating Current (AC) to charge your car’s battery. Then the battery will produce Direct Current (DC) to power up electrical device on your car. Therefore when you alternator is malfunction, the battery will not be charged. After a while, your car’s battery will die. So if you suspect your battery should function properly but it didn’t, then do a quick diagnose on your alternator. Alternator looks like this…

It’s very easy to diagnose your alternator. If you are able to jump start you car’s battery, remove the positive and negative terminal cable on your car’s battery. Now, if you car continue to work after you have done that, then you the alternator is fine. However, if your car die after you’ve done that… then your alternator is not functioning properly anymore.

Remember, don’t blindly change the car battery without figuring out what went wrong with your battery.

2. AAM versus MAA

and

I always got confused with AAM and MAA. Allow me to show to you the difference between AAM and MAA. AAM is Automobile Association of Malaysia, where they provide 24 hours breakdown services to their members. On the another hand, MAA is an insurance company. My car is insured by MAA Assurance and I was also AAM member previously (just expire not too long ago).

Through this experience I learned that if you’ve bought your car insurance through MAA, you automatically enjoys the free 24 hours breakdown service. In fact, I think many insurance company now provides the same service. In another word, don’t waste your money subscribing to AAM. If I have not mistaken, annual subscription fee for AAM is RM90. That is a lot of money. Why waste RM90/year when you already have a free 24 hours breakdown service from your car insurance provider…

The service is so good that I decided to take picture with the MAA technician. We became good friend :-) . To know more about MAA – Motor Insurance Policy, click here.

3. Friendship is forged after midnight

Pastor Kevin, Senior Pastor of CHC, once said true friendship is developed when one work together with others until past midnight. I have to say this is true. Going through hardship together will always produce quality friendship…

I am thankful to all my friends (Daniel, Jolene and Jessica) who stay along with me when they have the choice to go back. They are all tired and hungry but still decided to stay together. Thank you guys, else I will be bored to death :-)

.

4. Malaysian needs to speak Bahasa Malaysia

When I was asked to describe the exact location of my car, I have no better landmark to point to other than the sewage pond which located exactly opposite my church. Do you know what is sewage pond in Malay? I called it “Tasik Cuci Tahi“… hehehe. The real malay word for it is “Loji Pengumbahan Najis”. We found out, eventually via the church caretaker, Mr. Morgan. We all have a good laugh…

I realized I need to brush up my Bahasa Melayu especially when I am a Malaysian. :-) Challenges always point out your weakness, don’t you think so?

..

I am happy I went through it!!

Emerge 2008 – Juleen and The Fashion Show Team…

28 Aug

A short post before hitting the sack…

I just came back from the Emerge 2008 Fashion Show preparation. This is one of the things that keep both Juleen and I busy the whole week. If I have not mistaken, we have been preparing for this almost a month now (no wonder we have not seen any movie for a month). From just a simple conceptual a month ago to something surprisingly very beautiful tonight. It won’t happened without the effort and commitment from all the people whom I will introduce shortly…

….

The whole practice itself thought us a simple principle that is:-

Success = Team work + Work hard + Persistency

The equation doesn’t stop there. We also learned…

1. Team work build friendship;

2. Work hard brings result; and

3. Persistency defeats stubborn challenges.

I am so proud of the team that I can’t help but to dedicate this post to them:-

….

1. Alicia Chin – The Fashion Designer

2. Alvin – The Hair Stylist

3. Wei Mun – The Make Up Artist

4. Jen Li – The Cat Walk Specialist

5. Lex Low – Hairstylist of the Hairstylist (bottomline the powerful type)

6. Mi Mi – Alvin’s “Practice” Friend

and last but not least…

7. Juleen Wong – The Model

…..

These people work so hard that they virtually meet every 2 days to practice and they won’t leave the church until after midnight. This is what I mean as commitment. I sat in their first meeting and have seen and heard of suggestions of them wanting to quit, but they press on no matter what. I salute them for that. Equip with just…

a) the heart,

b) some equipment; and

c) guidance from the elders namely Lex’s dad and Alicia’s mum, we have the final design like this…

I think the final outcome is impressive despite having some area which can be improved on. At the end day by just looking at each of them, I realized:-

1. This is Alicia’s first time as fashion designer and I am sure she has gained much. Who say a pharmacist cannot become a fashion designer at the same time?

2. This is also Alvin’s first time styling female hair. He is an expert in styling men’s hair. After this, Alvin not only can style for men but also women. It is a 100% jump in skill improvement where he used to know 1, now he knew 2.

3. Wei Mun who is only familiar with conventional make up, now could do unconventional make up too. Another 100% jump in skill improvement.

4. Jen Li, the finalist for Miss Earth Malaysia 2008, would never thought she would use her experience as beauty pageant to teach others how to do cat walk :-) . You make me proud of you, Jen Li.

5. Lex Low, now works with the reputable Tony and Guy, deserve my highest respect. This guy not only offer his professional advice to the team but also at the same time color people’s hair for free. Tonight alone while helping us, he already colored more than 4 people hair!!! He is such a kind and generous person…

6. What to compliment Mi Mi? Hmmm… I, on behalf of the team, wish to thank you for lending your hair for practice…hahahaha!

7. My darling, I wonder whether she will quit her job as dietitian to do full time modeling … Will you dear?

……..

This Sunday is the D-day for them. Let’s see whether they will win or not on the last day of Emerge Conference. After seeing what they have sacrifice, in my opinion, it is not about winning anymore. You guys have put in a lot of effort and have gained much!! Basically, you guys already won! Just enjoy the competition…

….

DID I SAY SHORT POST?? Oh no, it is 3.30am… time to sleep!!! ZzzzZZzzzzzz…
