Penang Asam Laksa @ SS2 Pasar Malam, Petaling Jaya

Published by JuleenW under Food and Sweets

Now you don’t have to drive up to Penang to have a bowl of good Asam Laksa. You can have equally delicious Penang Asam Laksa at SS2 pasar malam, Petaling Jaya. No really, we aren’t exaggerating…

asam laksa ss2

and the noodle…

asam laksa ss2

RuehYinn and I love this asam laksa. This is the 2nd week in a row we have the same asam laksa. Here are the reasons why:-

1. the portion is pretty generous; more than the average laksa you get anywhere else;

2. the price is reasonable. A small bowl is RM3.80 and a big bowl is RM4.30;

3. we extremely love the idea of having the “hay kor”. In English, it is called Prawn paste; and

4. the soup is tastefully good.

However, RuehYinn and I have contrary view on the fish pieces that comes with the asam laksa. He prefers the fish to be fully shredded and blended into the soup. He claimed that is the original way of cooking Penang Asam Laksa.

As for me I am relatively neutral but amazed that the fish pieces are reasonably big…

Very good business and the crowd…

My advice to you… please remember to bring tissue if you decided to try out the asam laksa. You will know why… :-)

Else you can buy a coconut drink to cool down your body. The stall is adjacent to the asam laksa’s stall…

Penang Asam Laksa’s stall is located at the SS2 Mamak, opposite the police station’s quarters. Since it is a pasar malam stall, I’ll leave you guys with the owner’s vehicle plate number (in case):-

As a note: Pasar Malam at SS2 is on MONDAY night !!

Fresh Own Made Noodles @ Uncle Seng Restaurant, SS15 Subang Jaya

Published by JuleenW under Food and Sweets

After a good Service at Church on Sunday, our Cell Group went for our usual lunch fellowship. And this time we went to a try the “Fresh Own Made Noodles” at SS15 by Uncle Seng Restaurant. This is my 2nd time visiting this restaurant ever since my colleague brought me to this restaurant. However it was the first for all my church friends.

fresh own made noodles

This restaurant is located in the bustling SS15 town. It is popular because of its freshly own made noodles. Don’t be surprise if you’ll face some difficulties to find parking as Subang Jaya is notorious for its lack of parking space. However, do not be despair for the sake of a plate of good noodle :-)

Bon apetite…

friends at fresh own made noodles

These are some of the food that we ordered:

1. Curry Chicken Noodles

2. Char Siew Wan Ton Noodle

3. Braised Pork Noodle

The price for the noodle is reasonable, ranges from RM4.80 to RM 7.30. To give you guys some idea of what they offer… they have namely Char Siew Wan Ton, Curry Chicken, Chicken Feet Mushroom, Deep Fried Pork noodle and etc.

You can order in combination like Curry Chicken and Char Siew Wan Ton or Deep Fried Pork and Chicken Feet Mushroom. They have side orders too like Fried Wan Ton, Mushroom and etc.

I can’t possibly named all of the food here, however, you will get a list of food they offer once you have seated. All you need to do is to decide what you want and put the quantity in respective box adjacent to the food’s names.

At the end of the day, all of us are satisfied and enjoy our lunch… and

I ’seem’ like marching out from the restaurant with my fellow church friends…haha… while as usual, RuehYinn, whom never appear in the picture was the photographer.

Tai Poh Mee at Kota Kemuning

Published by JuleenW under Food and Sweets

—Backdated Post (22 June 2008)— JuleenW

Good day people… It was a beautiful Sunday morning. RuehYinn and I started our day with a good breakfast. As much as we can, we try to have breakfast together every Sunday morning before Sunday Church Service. How sweet is that? Usually, we will go to our favorite breakfast spot somewhere near his house.

restoran nts

RuehYinn ordered Wan Tan Mee and I ordered the Tai Poh Mee. I am sure that you are familiar with Wan Tan Mee, but not with Tai Poh Mee. Basically, Tai Poh Mee’s noodles are slightly thicker and curly. In a plate of Tai Poh Mee, you will find generous amount of Char Siew meat, fried Wan Tan and of course few slices of Chai Po (pickle vegs). Don’t be deceive with the appearance of Tai Poh Mee. Although it looks like Wan Tan Mee, the taste is totally different. It’s delicious especially for those who are sick of eating Wan Tan Mee. Here are the pictures of Tai Poh Mee:-

And here, RuehYinn’s Wan Tan Mee. Looks delicious and yummy too:-

I personally love noodles more than rice. I like this Tai Poh Mee because it tastes great, and you hardly find this noodle around. In fact, this is the first time I heard of such noodle. What more at Kota Kemuning, where people claimed you hardly find good Chinese food.

The next time, you have a chance to try Tai Poh Mee in Kota Kemuning, try to dip the fried Wan Tan into the soup. Allow the soup to sip into the fried Wan Tan and soften it before eating it. That’s my favorite way of eating fried Wan Tan. Let me caution you though, if you aren’t a big eater just settle with a small bowl of Tai Poh Mee because it is very filling. I guess it is also due to the size and texture of the noodle. To tempt you guys further, here are the macro pictures of Tai Poh Mee and Wan Tan Mee… look at the Char Siew meat!! Yum Yum…

And as usual, a picture of our drinks…

The price for regular Tai Poh Mee is RM4.00. For the big bowl, it is RM4.50. However, if you wanna stick with Wan Tan Mee, the regular (small) bowl is only RM3.50 and the big bowl is RM4.50. I think it is pretty reasonable especially during this time when everything is expensive due to inflation.

I recommend all of you guys that stay around Kota Kemuning to try this fantastic noodle. Even for those that are not staying in Kota Kemuning, let’s get adventurous and go try out the noodle too…Cheers!

You can find the store at:-
